Old Town Coldspring & San Jacinto Jail Ghost Hunt
Includes investigation of the Old San Jacinto County Jail and grounds, plus 150-year-old life history buildings
What was once the old town square and site of the Coldspring courthouse (which burned to the ground in 1915), is now home to buildings from across San Jacinto County, some of which date back to the mid-1850s!!
You must be 18 or over to attend! 16/17-year-olds can attend with a responsible adult.
Small Groups – Only 20 Guests at Each Event!
No matter if you’re a total beginner or a seasoned paranormal investigator, this event is for you!
Not only can we give you classes on how to use the equipment and guide you on a full night of ghost hunting with the team, you also get free time to investigate the location on your own!
Reports of disembodied voices, strange sounds, blood-curdling EVPs, bangs, and shadow figures have left guests running for the doors, and past investigators wanting more.
The pent-up energy in this building is something else. Although no executions took place inside the jail building, the hanging tree on the grounds did, with over 300 inmates reportedly meeting their ends there! Yes, we’ll be carrying out vigils there too! The tree has been cut down but the energy in this area still very much exists! Which unfortunate soul will we come in to contact with whilst conducting a vigil here?

History
Location
The town of Coldspring has a history rich in folklore and legend. It’s been the county seat since before there was a San Jacinto County and is home to a wealth of artifacts and buildings steeped in Texas tradition, none more so than the Old San Jacinto County Jail – the only remaining building of the original townsite of Coldspring from the 1880s.
The San Jacinto County Jail, built across Loyd Avenue from the original courthouse square in 1887 is a two-story yellow pink brick building of Victorian influence. The square (28′ X 28′) structure with so-called ‘common’ brickwork is punctuated by several horizontal projecting courses and with masonry in high relief at the corners suggesting square partial columns. The building presented a handsome and solid symbol of law and order in a no-frills (and virtually fireproof) public building. (The contract for the building was given to John R. Johnson and Thomas Ireland. The building cost $1500 and 1/8 of 1% on taxable property was levied for the creation of the building.)
In 1911 the building was expanded 26′ to the south, giving it the current 54′ by 28′ dimensions. The construction methods, materials, and most details inside and out were carried out in this new addition increasing the number of cells upstairs and providing living quarters for the jailer and his family, as well as an entry foyer. Narrow and steep metal stairs lead to the cells on the second level. The upper floor is supported by concrete beams dividing the structure into four equal bays with one concrete column in the center.
After the wooden courthouse and several other buildings burned in March of 1915, it was determined that the new courthouse be built at a different location about four blocks to the south. The merchants soon discovered that people attending business at the new courthouse no longer visited the original town square, so within a short time all the businesses migrated to the new square. By 1923, Coldspring was firmly entrenched in its new location. Except for the jail, the old square, which had been the heart of early Coldspring and San Jacinto County, was forgotten and neglected.
By 1980, the building was deemed no longer within acceptable limits of jail standards and was abandoned for this function in favor of a modern facility at another location. The San Jacinto County Historical Commission was granted a 100-year lease on the property by the Commissioners. Monies were raised through grants, donations, and fundraisers to undertake reconstruction and adaptive reuse of the old jail. These efforts were successful and the old jail now serves the county and thousands of visitors each year as the Old Jail Museum. The Old Jail Museum houses artifacts pertaining to the history of East Texas and San Jacinto County are. The Old Jail Museum boasts both Texas Historical Commission and National Register recognition.

Reviews
Did the Battleship North Carolina on April 3rd. I've already booked again for August. The hosts (Both physical and spiritual) were amazing. Recorded several EVP's throughout the night. Some very strong responses with dousing rods. Always skeptical about them, but there were strong responses, especially when we started talking to them like the military members they were. At one point I asked if they wished they had women on Battleships, he replied with a strong "Yes" and my Ghost Box replied with the word "Seductive". He really liked one of the young ladies with us. Turns out she was 18 and he was 20 when he died. Can't wait to do this again!
Just did a tour with this group on the Battleship North Carolina. Absolutely wonderful experience!! My husband and I will definitely be booking again. The leaders are super nice, respectful, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!!
Just finished our VIP overnight at Hotel Metropolitan in Paducah! Ms. Venita and Julie were the absolute best! They both made sure we knew what we were doing with equipment, and gave us a fantastic guided tour and explained the history so well. Venita especially made an impression on my group. She is super friendly and definitely knows what she's doing. Can't wait to see her again! I wouldn't want anyone else!
My dad, my sister-in-law, and I stayed at The Metropolitan for a paranormal investigation, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of history — but what made our stay exceptional was the incredible staff, Julie and Venita. These two amazing women went above and beyond the entire time we were there. They walked us through all the investigation equipment, helped guide us throughout the night, and made us feel completely comfortable and right at home. Their hospitality was top-notch — from the snacks and drinks they provided to the delicious hot chocolate they made for us during our late-night exploring. Their kindness, patience, and passion for what they do turned our stay into something truly special. If you’re looking for a place filled with charm, comfort, and staff who genuinely care, The Metropolitan Hotel is the perfect choice. Our overnight stay exceeded every expectation. Highly recommend! I wouldn't want anyone else to tour with!! 👻✨🍫
My son and I went to belles grove plantation and it was the best time! We enjoyed everything! Miss V was great! We got a few pictures of something in the windows and I actually started crying which I NEVER would let my son see me cry! It was kinda spooky but awesome at the same time! The team is great and I highly recommend going on one of their tours! Thank u all for a great experience
