AS SEEN ON TLC’S PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN
Once a successful family-owned hotel in the late 19th to early 20th century, the hotel fell on bad times after fewer people were using the railroad near to the hotel due to the rise of automobiles. It was later converted into a place for the troubled, with patients suffering from drug abuse to schizophrenia calling it home. The conditions were neglectful, to say the least, with many horror stories doing the rounds over the years Malvern Manor was in operation.
This mistreatment of patients is the reason many believe why the building has such an array of paranormal activity.
The paranormal occurrences that have been witnessed at the manor are so severe, that many seasoned investigators have run out of the building swearing never to return! Voices and disembodied footsteps are commonplace, and you shouldn’t be surprised if you see objects move, feel a push, or see lights flicker as you wander around its intensely creepy corridors.
The building is believed to be the home to not just a handful of spirits, but many more! One of the more common spirits to make themselves known is that of Grace. She suffered from multiple personality disorder and was one of many disturbed patients that suffered here, until her death. Staff would report the voice of a man screaming “The Devil’s coming to get me”, only to open the door and see that the deep growly voice was, in fact, coming from Grace. This was just one of the many personalities she would switch to. To this day, Grace’s old room is one of the most haunted rooms in the building, with many people believing her many personalities are still manifesting. If you were to record an EVP session from outside her door, you’ll likely capture one of her multiple voices!
Another one of the most haunted rooms in the manor belonged to that of a young woman who was committed to the manor by her husband. She had reportedly become obsessed with the idea that he had lost attraction to her, and it drove her to insanity. She used to stand in front of her mirror for hours slowly pulling her hair out in chunks. Unfortunately, no treatment at the time could help her with her illness and she is believed to have died in the house. To this day you may catch a glimpse of her standing in front of where her mirror used to be, pulling out her hair with a terrifying expression on her face.
There is a dark presence that engulfs the manor that’s for sure, and this manifests in the form of a dark inhuman entity that has been witnessed on several occasions, most commonly in the rooms beneath the attic. It was in these rooms that a patient was physically and sexually assaulted by another inmate for several years until the staff found out what was happening. It’s believed the dark energy left behind by the many traumatic experiences of past patients is what powers this oppressive being.
With the type and frequency of the hauntings here, it’s little wonder why paranormal tv shows have chosen to record here, and why writers such as Richard Estep have written books on the location.
Do you have the courage to spend some time in Grace’s room alone, or try and make contact with one of the many other patients that haunt its many rooms and dark corridors?
