The Andrew Jackson is believed to be haunted by the ghosts of 5 boys who perished here in 1778 in a fire, when a boys boarding school stood on the site. They have been heard playing in the courtyard in the middle of the night, as well as being seen sitting looking at a TV in one of the rooms.

Many guests have witnessed an apparition that seems to match the appearance of General Andrew Jackson himself.

Most reports tend to originate from the 2nd floor, with phenomena such as disembodied footsteps and doors opening and shutting by themselves. There have also been reports throughout the hotel, on the 1st floor as well as the courtyard cottages.

Brief History

The Andrew Jackson Hotel is listed on the National Historic Places since 1965. It’s located on the site where the famous courthouse stood, a place where Major General Andrew Jackson was indicted for contempt of court and charged with obstruction of justice.
