Mortuary Manor Ghost Hunt
Where over a century of death left something standing in the doorway.
The building at Lagrange Street in north Toledo operated as Urbanski’s Funeral Home from 1889 until 2025, one of the longest-serving mortuaries in the region. For a hundred and thirty-six years, the dead were brought here. They were carried down to the basement morgue, prepared on embalming tables, autopsied, dressed, and laid out in the viewing parlours upstairs while their families said goodbye in the quiet corridors beyond.
Thousands of bodies passed through this building. Nine people died on the property itself. Among the artefacts still housed inside is an original ice casket, once used to transport the remains of a Civil War veteran back to Michigan.
When the funeral home finally closed, nothing was stripped out. The layout remains exactly as it was: the basement morgue, the embalming rooms, the preparation areas, the viewing parlours, the narrow private hallways where grieving families once waited in silence. It is a building frozen at the precise moment it stopped serving the living, and the atmosphere inside makes that unmistakably clear.
What Investigators Are Finding
Mortuary Manor has had very little exposure to the wider paranormal investigation community. There is no long catalogue of prior claims, no well-worn narrative passed between teams. The building’s history is deep and real, but its investigation history is only just beginning, which makes the consistency of early reports all the more striking.
The Embalming Room
The basement-level embalming room, where thousands of bodies were prepared over more than a century, has produced some of the earliest documented evidence at the location. During one of the first investigation sessions, independent audio review captured what appears to be a female voice speaking in the room when no one else was present. Investigators working this space consistently report a pronounced heaviness and the sense of being closely observed.
The Viewing Parlors
The rooms where families once gathered for final viewings remain intact and unchanged. Shadow figures have been observed moving along walls with no identifiable source. Equipment triggers occur in spaces where no investigator is standing. The emotional weight of these rooms, where grief, loss, and farewell played out daily for over a century, is immediate and difficult to ignore.
The Corridors
The private hallways connecting the preparation areas to the public rooms were never intended to be seen by visitors. Sudden, localised temperature shifts have been reported moving through these corridors without explanation, and multiple investigators have independently described the persistent sensation of being watched, or followed, in otherwise empty passages.
Haunted Rooms America is bringing a limited number of investigators into Mortuary Manor for a night of access to this extraordinary location. You will move through the original basement morgue, the embalming rooms, the viewing parlours, and the private corridors that the public never saw when this was a working funeral home.
Our team will provide professional-grade paranormal equipment and experienced investigators to guide your session, with structured group vigils followed by free time to explore the building on your own terms.
What makes Mortuary Manor rare is not just its history. It’s how few investigators have had access so far. The location is still building its case file, and the early evidence is compelling. There is a lot left to uncover here. Every session still has the potential to uncover something no one has documented before. The building’s past runs deep.
Its reputation is still catching up.
Secure your place. Mortuary Manor is waiting.

History
The building now known as Mortuary Manor began its life in 1889 as Urbanski’s Funeral Home, serving the north Toledo community from its location on Lagrange Street. Over the decades that followed, it became one of the longest continuously operating funeral homes in the region, guiding thousands of families through the process of death, preparation, and burial.
The Victorian mansion-style building was designed to serve every stage of that process under one roof. The basement housed the morgue and embalming facilities, where autopsies were performed and the dead were prepared. The upper floors contained viewing parlours, reception areas, and the private corridors where families waited. Apartments above the funeral home provided living quarters, a common arrangement for mortuary families of the era, where the boundary between the living and the dead was separated by little more than a staircase.
Over the course of its operation, nine people are recorded as having died on the property itself, beyond the thousands who were brought here after death. The building also houses a number of historical artefacts from its years of service, including an original ice casket that was used to transport the remains of a Civil War veteran back to Michigan.
Urbanski’s Funeral Home finally closed its doors in 2025. The building was subsequently acquired by new ownership and reopened as Mortuary Manor, a funeral museum and paranormal investigation venue. The interior remains largely unchanged from its years as a working funeral home, preserving both the physical layout and the atmosphere of a building that spent well over a century in continuous service to the dead.

Just finished our VIP overnight at Hotel Metropolitan in Paducah! Ms. Venita and Julie were the absolute best! They both made sure we knew what we were doing with equipment, and gave us a fantastic guided tour and explained the history so well. Venita especially made an impression on my group. She is super friendly and definitely knows what she's doing. Can't wait to see her again! I wouldn't want anyone else!
My dad, my sister-in-law, and I stayed at The Metropolitan for a paranormal investigation, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of history — but what made our stay exceptional was the incredible staff, Julie and Venita. These two amazing women went above and beyond the entire time we were there. They walked us through all the investigation equipment, helped guide us throughout the night, and made us feel completely comfortable and right at home. Their hospitality was top-notch — from the snacks and drinks they provided to the delicious hot chocolate they made for us during our late-night exploring. Their kindness, patience, and passion for what they do turned our stay into something truly special. If you’re looking for a place filled with charm, comfort, and staff who genuinely care, The Metropolitan Hotel is the perfect choice. Our overnight stay exceeded every expectation. Highly recommend! I wouldn't want anyone else to tour with!! 👻✨🍫
My son and I went to belles grove plantation and it was the best time! We enjoyed everything! Miss V was great!
