Investigate the historic Old Ravalli County Courthouse, where Montana’s dramatic frontier justice history has created lasting supernatural activity! Built in 1900, this beautiful Romanesque Revival courthouse witnessed some of Montana’s most significant historical events and now serves as home to unexplained phenomena that continue to intrigue investigators.
⚖️ THE WALTER JACKSON TRAGEDY – A DARK CHAPTER IN HISTORY ⚖️ ONE OF MONTANA’S MOST TRAGIC HISTORICAL EVENTS
In 1903, the brutal murder of 6-year-old Alfonso “Fonny” Buck shocked the community. Walter Jackson was arrested, tried, and sentenced to hang from gallows installed in the courthouse basement. On October 13, 1903, a mob of 150 masked vigilantes stormed the jail and lynched Jackson from a lamp post.
Jackson maintained his innocence until his final moments, and local lore suggests he may have been wrongfully executed. This tragic miscarriage of justice has created an atmosphere where many believe Jackson’s spirit still seeks vindication within the courthouse walls.
🏛️ THE GALLOWS BASEMENT – HEAVY SUPERNATURAL ENERGY 🏛️
The courthouse basement once housed the 350-pound gallows brought from Deer Lodge Prison. Historical accounts note that the courthouse janitor refused to enter the basement because of the eerie atmosphere created by the execution apparatus.
Today, investigators consistently report this basement as the most active paranormal location in the building:
- Overwhelming feelings of dread and desperation
- Unexplained cold spots and temperature drops
- Phantom sounds of footsteps and chains
- EVP recordings captured throughout the area
- Sensations of being watched by unseen presences
📚 THE JURY ROOM & HOLDING CELL – OPPRESSIVE ATMOSPHERE 📚
The second-floor jury room where Jackson’s death sentence was decided carries intense supernatural energy. This space witnessed twelve men determining life or death, creating an atmosphere so heavy that many investigators struggle to remain inside.
The holding cell where Jackson spent his final days before the lynching holds some of the courthouse’s most oppressive energy. Investigators report:
- Overwhelming feelings of hopelessness and terror
- Phantom sounds from Jackson’s failed suicide attempt
- Physical sensations of confinement and restraints
- Equipment malfunctions in these specific areas
🎖️ WAR MEMORABILIA – SPIRITUAL ATTACHMENTS 🎖️
The courthouse museum houses extensive military artifacts from multiple conflicts. These collections are known to carry spiritual attachments from soldiers who died in battle, creating additional paranormal activity throughout the building.
Investigators encounter:
- Apparitions in military uniforms from different eras
- Phantom sounds of marching and battlefield commands
- Strong electromagnetic readings near specific artifacts
- Sensations of being observed by unseen soldiers
📹 DOCUMENTED PARANORMAL EVIDENCE 📹
Previous investigations have captured compelling evidence of supernatural activity:
RECORDED PHENOMENA:
- EVP RECORDINGS including voices cursing at investigators
- PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE of dark shadow figures throughout the building
- UNEXPLAINED ELEVATOR ACTIVITY with frequent movement and mechanical sounds
- PHYSICAL CONTACT experiences including touching and pushing sensations
- POSSIBLE POSSESSION ATTEMPTS reported by multiple investigators
The courthouse’s tragic history combined with documented paranormal activity makes it one of Montana’s most actively haunted locations!
🏛️ ARCHITECTURAL BEAUTY MEETS SUPERNATURAL ACTIVITY 🏛️
Designed by A.J. Gibson and completed in 1901, this stunning courthouse features Classical Revival and Romanesque architecture with round-arched windows, beautiful stonework, and an impressive corner tower. The building served as Ravalli County’s courthouse until 1974 and now operates as the Ravalli County Museum while maintaining its supernatural residents.
