Tinker House Ghost Hunts
Step back in time and into the shadows of the Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum and Gardens, an eerie bastion of the past nestled on Rockford’s west side. Built in 1865 by Robert Hall Tinker, this Victorian time capsule not only retains its original family possessions but also its original spirits.
Perched on a limestone bluff overlooking Kent Creek, its grounds soaked in Native American history, the Cottage is a hotbed for paranormal activity, amplified by the elements believed to conduct supernatural forces.
The Cottage’s hauntings are as rich and vivid as its history. The ghost of Mary Tinker, who detests male presence in her room, has been seen peeping around corners and walking down hallways. In the Red Room, where many Tinkers took their last breath, including Mary’s father Josephus, visitors report jiggling doorknobs, footsteps, and full-bodied apparitions.
The basement, once bustling with servants, now echoes with their footsteps and disembodied voices, and the spirits are known to shush the living. Jessie Tinker, seen frequently in her room, keeps her dolls and rocking chair eerily animated.
Our ghost hunts delve deep into these spectral occurrences, guided by experiences from the Haunted Rooms team and insights from paranormal investigations that have marked the cottage as one of Rockford’s most haunted locales. Featured on television shows like “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Lab,” and “Night of Terror with Jack Osbourne,” Tinker Swiss Cottage continues to intrigue and terrify.
Join us for a chilling investigation where you might encounter the oppressive spirit of Robert Tinker himself or witness the Victorian seances reenacted in the parlor.
