Arguably, the bed and breakfasts’ most famous inhabitant is that of Old Man Simon. Simon Brewster, aka. Old Man Simon, one of the original owners of the inn is said to be a friendly spirit. Old Man Simon is apparently most active around the gardens, watching those tending to the gardens plant life. The present owners, Ron and Kate Bauer have owned the inn for over 15 years and first came in to contact with Simon’s ghost when they began working on the grounds around the property.
They both had similar experiences of Simon looking over them from the corner of their eyes. Kate first saw the figure of Simon when she was working on the garden, but she didn’t say anything to her husband thinking it was only her imagination. That was until her husband reported seeing the same figure in the corner of his eye, and both reported they had a feeling of being supervised on how they were pruning.
The couple later described their sighting to a guest, who happened to be a relative of Old Man Simon. They described his features from what they could tell, and the guest later revealed a picture of Simon that matched their description perfectly…It was him!
If you choose to stay at the Homespun Inn you may also experience the feeling of being watched in the house, and waking to ghostly footsteps on the stairs in the middle of the night. It’s understood that this could be Mrs. Brewster, Old Man Simon’s wife!
It’s important to note, the spirits are friendly and are not likely to scare you intentionally.
